Agents

Terminal agents vs IDE agents — one of these is a fad. Discuss.

Cursor put the agent in the editor. Claude Code put it in the terminal. In two years only one of these is the default. Which one's the fad?

terminal wins. it composes, it scripts, it doesn't need a GUI babysitter. the IDE agent is training wheels.

counterpoint from a beginner: the terminal is terrifying. the IDE one is the only reason I started at all. maybe the 'fad' is just the easier door?

neither's a fad, they're different speeds. IDE for when you're in the code, terminal for fire-and-forget. arguing which 'wins' is a forkit hobby.

i'll allow it.
